Company

Prepared by

Date Prepared

1. Introduction and Purpose

Tom's Trunks Ltd is committed to respecting human rights across our business operations and supply chain. We recognise our responsibility to avoid infringing on the rights of others and to address any adverse human rights impacts with which we are involved. This policy formalises our commitment to internationally recognised human rights standards and sets out how we approach human rights as a small business.

This policy aligns with the expectations set out in the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and forms part of our commitments as a B Corp.

2. Scope

This policy applies to:

  • All employees and casual workers of Tom's Trunks Ltd, and our directors

  • Contractors and freelancers engaged by the company

  • Our suppliers and business partners, whom we expect to uphold equivalent human rights standards

  • The communities affected by our operations and supply chain

3. Our Commitment

Tom's Trunks Ltd commits to respecting all internationally recognised human rights, understood as those set out in:

  • The International Bill of Human Rights — the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights

  • The ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (as amended in 2022) — covering freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining; the elimination of all forms of forced or compulsory labour; the effective abolition of child labour; the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation; and a safe and healthy working environment

  • The UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights

4. How We Put This Into Practice

As a small business, we implement this commitment in a way that is proportionate to our size and the nature of our operations:

  • We identify and assess human rights risks in our own operations and our supply chain, with particular attention to our manufacturing suppliers, and take steps to prevent or mitigate any risks we identify

  • We ask our suppliers about their labour practices and working conditions as part of onboarding and our ongoing relationships with them

  • We uphold fair employment practices in our own workplace, including written contracts for all employees, fair pay, and equal treatment

  • Concerns can be raised by any employee, worker, or external party directly with the Director or the HR Finance Manager, without fear of retaliation. Our open door policy means concerns are heard and acted on promptly

5. Remediation

Where we identify that we have caused or contributed to an adverse human rights impact, we will act to remedy it, and will cooperate with others in remediation where we are linked to an impact through our business relationships.

6. Oversight and Review

This policy is owned and approved by the company’s highest governing authority. Responsibility for the day-to-day implementation of this policy rests with the HR Finance Manager in relation to employment matters. For supplier relationships, please contact Tom Holmes as the appointed manager.

This policy will be reviewed annually, or more frequently if required, particularly in response to significant changes in the company’s operations, supply chain, or applicable legal and regulatory obligations.

7. Public Availability

This policy is made publicly available on the Tom's Trunks website and is shared with employees and suppliers. Questions or feedback regarding this policy can be directed to the HR Finance Manager.
